Belated Watchmen Post

School’s finally over, hooray!! Because of that, I knew I’d be allowed to go out and watch a movie. FINALLY.

The boyfriend, as early as Valentine’s day, was already begging me to see the movie Watchmen with him. We were so lucky that both of us won a ticket to the Premiere at Gateway from Azrael’s contest. I admit I do not know much about the Watchmen, except that I know there is a naked blue guy. Anything NAKED is enough to interest me. Also, who wouldn’t be hyped to watch this movie when the sight of the posters is already enough to send their boyfriend into geekgasms while shouting like silly school girls?

…… The mental image of my boyfriend in a schoolgirl outfit disturbed me.

Thankfully not my boyfriend.

Oh where was I?

Oh yeah, movie, Watchmen. Yup that’s it, I was certainly talking about Watchmen.

We were loitering around the Cineplex, waiting for Azrael, when I saw a guy wearing a trench coat, a hat, and PURPLE pants. His back was turned to me so I just kept on staring and wondering how weirdly dressed he was. He finally walked away and I was able to see the profile of his face from afar; boy was I scared to see that his face was covered with some cloth. I thought he was a terrorist.

The boyfriend was overcome with a fit of laughter when I voiced out my safety concerns.

Me: “Look at that purple pants guy, his face is hidden behind that cloth. He’s also wearing a hat to cover his hair color, and he’s wearing a bulky coat, probably hiding some firearms underneath!!” 

Boyfriend: “Purple pants guy isn’t a terrorist, he is one of the movie characters” *points to poster of  Rorshach*

Me: “Oh”

That’s when he finally saw the need to tell me the names and background of the characters.

Azrael arrived with our tickets, just in time to prevent me from making a fool of myself in front of the other hardcore fans that my boyfriend was having intense discussions with.
I’ve kept you long enough from what I have to say about the movie itself so let me tell you now, IT WAS AWESOME! I would have appreciated it more if they didn’t cut some *cough*sex*cough* scenes. It’s not a typical superhero film that’s action packed from start to finish but don’t get bored. For those like me who haven’t read it before, it pays to listen closely from the beginning til the end. It will certainly give you “Hallelujah” moments. *wink wink*
I like how twisted and screwed up the plot got. It got me so glued to the movie as I was trying to understand their motives. The ending gave me an immense satisfaction as it finally made me understand the bigger picture.
Lastly, I like discussing the movie over and over with my boyfriend because it turns out that every single detail that I ask about the movie has a significant purpose or connection that makes my *aha* moments even greater!

I recommend you watch this movie, despite it’s length of 2 1/2 hours!
