Mosquitoes and Relatives
June 23, 2008VICTORY!!! Ha! Do you know how glorious it feels to finally be able to kill the mosquito that’s been flying near my legs since lunch time? I’m dancing with joy because I was able to put an end to the series of bites I have been receiving.
The feeling of victory ends as I discover another mosquito presence hovering nearby.
Moving on to more serious things, my relatives from my mother’s side of the family are here. They arrived from the province last Thursday and will be staying here til Sunday. Originally, there were six of us at home: my parents, sister (aged 10), two aunts, and me. Who arrived: grandmother, two aunts, two guy cousins (aged 21 and 11), one son of another cousin (aged 9).
I like it that they’re here because there are people to eat with, almost anytime I’d like to eat. They keep on eating, or they eat then remain seated around the dining table while talking. My dad also moved the dvd player downstairs and switched the big bedroom tv with the small one in the living room. My sister also found someone to play with. On the downside I find it harder to move around the house because everywhere I go, someone’s there. Okay, I was just exaggerating. What I meant to say was that it feels a bit crowded during mealtimes.. or when everybody watches tv, I can’t hog the couch I normally hog because there are people who’d need a place to sit.
There’s this issue of how we are used to different things. My aunts tidied up my room for me but I was so surprised when I went in because they only said that they were going to tidy my bed. The chair where I dump random stuff was moved against the door of my cabinet, thus preventing me from actually opening and closing it. My Orocan drawer was pushed to the wall, blocking access to some of my shoes that I place on the shelf-like thing beside it. I appreciate their efforts and intentions but I just hope that when they move something, they ask us first..Particularly if we already told them not to move our stuff despite how cluttered it looks.
There are a lot more things that I could possible rant about but I’m stopping myself because I haven’t really said super nice things about my relatives. I’m giving myself time to bond with them because I didn’t grow up close to them; I was only three years old the last time I went to the province. I just want to be fair because I know that they are nice. My issues lie with the manner of how different we do things here and how they do it in the province.
P.S. I’m calm now, because they went to Megamall after lunch..Oooh no kids, particularly my sister, bugging me to let them use the computer. And no loud DVD playing. I’ve nothing against DVD playing, I just like what they watch that I end up watching too!Talk about being distracted!

Posted by crazyinsane at June 26, 2008, 9:15 pmHey nice meeting you at the Coke event at MoA!
Also, those must be pretty pesky mosquitoes for you to be blogging about killing them. Aaand like Wits I LOL-d at the abrupt shift of your entry from mosquitoes to relatives.

Is it just me or do I just find it funny that you’re talking about mosquitoes and shift to talking about your frustration on your relatives. hmm.. subconscious thing, yes? Don;t worry. It’s normal. I hope things work out for you for the best. : )
